I greatly enjoyed reading Green Witchcraft. The author is also the host of the podcast “The Fat Feminist Witch” and the tone through out the book clearly highlights Paige’s personality. It feels as though you are sitting down and having a conversation with a well-versed friend. While this book is not an academic deep dive into Green Witchcraft it is a wonderful place to start for beginners and for those like me who enjoy being able to quickly reference information. She does a good job of dispelling some of the common misconceptions about magic up front, and grounds the reader against internal protests around green witchery due to location, religion, and gender.
There is a lovely sprinkling of charts, definitions, and correspondences that sit side by side with actionable items. There are a fair number of spells and activities that are approached in a responsible and gentle way that allows for modifications based on one’s experience, preference, and region. While very much written from the author’s perspective and knowledge, there are plenty of references that will lead you to further study on the topics. She markets this book as a practical guide to witchcraft and I completely agree – it is practical, straightforward, and holds true to the mentality that anyone can be a witch.
